Default Where to put trans temp gauge sensor

I've been hearing alot of different places to put the sensor(or sending unit) for the trans temp. Does it belong in the hot side or the cool side of the trans cooler or one of the test ports? I think it should go in the hot side so you can see actual temp. Any opinions??

I used to have mine in ne of my ports, but I have mine hooked up at a bung welded into the tranny pan.

Put the probe in the hot line, front cooler line, for best results and usage.
