Default Another Way to Bag It

I hate it when I'm driving at night and some fool with a ton of crap in the back his truck blinds me with his headlights. So I came up with this idea after I started carrying the 35" spare in the bed because it no longer fit in the stock location. There was plenty of room under there to install a 2+-ton bag rated for 5k lbs. at 100 psi:

Don't try this unless you're confident in your fab skills. The lower mount is literally nothing but odd angles and lengths and has to be just about spot on to work right. I initially tested it with 500lbs in the bed which it took it down 2 inches. 50lbs. in the bag took it back up 1", which I believe is my preferred loaded stance. Then I ran it across the worst section of road I know around here at 60mph and it did very well - smooth as silk. Seems like a good match for a full load up to at least a ton, if the hardware holds up. We'll see.

I think I'll stick with my bags between my springs and frame. I'd be worried about bending the bed crossmember or pulling the bolts out of the bed where it bolts to the frame, but if it works for you I guess thats all that matters.

That's not going to happen because there is a 1/4x2" piece of angle between the 5th wheel brackets on either side of the frame forming the main portion of the top crossover piece. That assembly mates to the stock bed crossover frame as a 3rd mount point. Take a closer look at the 2nd pic.
