A BHAF (big honkin air filter) will certainly help you. Although you man have to fabricate or modify the air tube to your turbo and fabricate some kind of a heat shield to keep turbo heat away from the BHAF. BHAF takes a bit of room. You can usually make your own CAI with stuff from Home Depot. Or you can spend a bit of change to buy a CAI kit. But before you condemn your intake system, make sure that there arent other issues causing the "lagging". Does your rig belch excessive black smoke? What is your tire size? Boost leak? Enough fuel pressure? Dirty fuel filter(s)? Worn turbo? Are ya still running stock exhaust system? Any mods on your rig?

ya definatly need another filter would it be a good idea to make a CAI out of pvc pipe? im runnin about 30 psi it could be the fuel filter and i have an 3in down pipe to 5 inch to 6inch stack. it rolls a bit of black smoke but it clears up when the boost get up there it only belches when i give er though. i still need to get a fuel press guage the truck is currently off the road so im doing everything need to do before she is back on. i think the turbo is still ok too the truck only has 150000km on it so i doupt the turbo is worn. im pretty certain its an air problem. need a BHAF because i have taken out the air box and put a filter on there but its defiatly too small. thanks

Got it! Pvc pipe holds up very well for Homemade intakes. I have a homemade open element CAI to house a dry-flow BHAF. Part of my intake plumbing is 4" 45* pvc elbow, before it mates to my Afe torque tube.

Another thing you may want to look into is replacing the stock air horn. It measures about 1.5x3 inches so its very restrictive

Yep. A better intake elbow will certainly help. IIRC, my airfilter is from AEM and its a dryflow (still a washable one, but is not the type you oil). Mine is 8" in diameter x 11" long, with 4" inlet flange. I got it for $70 bucks. Im not sure what size you would need. Take measurements of the space you have, and search for the size filter thats pretty close to that. I found mine on ebay, but I searched all other brands until I found what I was looking for.
