Is there anyway to get more hydro boost to my master cylinder. Well my brakes work ok, Its just I feel the pedal should have a softer feel so to speak. I have to put some force on the pedal when coming to hard stop. Now the pedal stays at a normal height. They are just harder to push down than I am used to. My last truck, I don't remember having to push as hard on the pedal to get it stopped. It was a 99 Ram 3500 2wd, CTD. I haven't messed much with hydro boost brake boosters.

Well you don't want them sponge because that usually means you are getting air in the lines.

Maybe someone will chime in with some things you can try. I don't have much on the subject at hand tho.

 

Thanks HRD, I am thinking about flushing the brake system, But I don't think thats gunna help with the feel of the pedal.. I was thinking after I originally posted, The steering seems to be fine. Maybe I should try replacing the fluid in the pump also. I don't know of an easy way to do that. Besides pull the return line from the pump, with motor running start dumping new fluid in, until it runs clean. Should I have front end jacked up, and work steering wheel back and forth? Ideas on that?

 

If its hydroboostI'd suspect a weak PS pump if vacum look for leaks.

 

to change, what I do takes some time to fully flush, but it's easy: use a brake bleeder or say a turkey baster to suck out the resivour, fill back up and repeat the next 3 or so days.

no air in the system ever if you don't turn on the truck, so it's easier in that regard
