Default ticking noise on 04 cummins normal?

hey guys

Im new here so i hope iam posting in the rite place, but i have an 04 cummins i just recently bought and i am hearing a slight ticking noise comeing from the engine at idle and only once the truck warms up to normal running temp.

I am curious about a few things, first is this normal for these trucks?
Second if it is not normal what could it be?

thanks in advance guys.

Check your injector line hold down bolts, the small 8mm bolts can loosen over time especially #4. Also could be an injector. If you have access to a scan tool you can shut off the injectors one at a time and see if the ticking goes away once the injector is shut off.

might smoke some very light haze possibly but might not smoke all the time or at all. If the tick doesnt go away when you shut off the injectors you can start checking your valve train. Valve lash, rocker arm pivot shafts.
