First off it's a 1997 7.3 turbo, Every time I park, I notice a puddle diesel underneath the truck, leaking from the back of the engine block down to dripping off the bottom of the trans bell. So I traced the leak up to the intake manifold valley. Figured it was the lift pump, so I replaced it. Still leaks, I'm guessing it's coming from the bottom of the fuel filter canister. Any tips / tricks to removing that whole filter canister? Or simply unbolt and remove the hoses? Common cases seem to point to rotten hoses, not so much a hole in the filter canister. I'll try and get some pics later today.

Ps, yes I've checked the water drain valve.

just unbolt, take all hoses off and replace. I have seen the fuel bowls leak due to rust from water sitting in the bottom. Ive also seen new lift pumps leak and the big banjo bolt not seal right. the water drain should drain out at the front of the engine not rear.

the filter housing/fuel bowl comes off with 2 13mm bolts, and the hoses undone. there are also 2 electrical connectors, one on the left side of the housing fairing high, it's quite large, and then one on the HPOP right side, smaller connector.

it's not always as easy as it seems. I did the pump and every hose on the housing, I'm still leaking. I have a new fuel drain valve/stem/orings coming. if that doesn't work, I'm out of ideas.

i am starting to sound like a broken record but i say go e-fuel and get rid of all the crap in the valley.

I was bouncing around the idea of a fuel bowl delete? Thoughts / comments anyone?

Do it. I love mine best upgrade I ever did. Gave my mid range and top end a whole new life.

So what exactly are the benefits of the delete? Difficulty of installation? Costs? Pro's /con's? Educate me please!

So first the cost can get pretty high. Beans kit is like 1100. And irate is about the same. But like I did It in stages I first bought a pump then I got 2 filter bases and filters. Then I built a mount. After all that I did the filters and pump with the stock still in place.

After I sourced all the parts for the fuel bowl delete I did that last. I however
Have an availability to parts from work at no cost. So the money I have into my kit was under $300.

Pros are constant fuel pressure at any rpm. Cleaner fuel due to 2 micron filter and no more fuel leaks in the valley.
