If you are familiar with turbo charging then not really hard. No powerstroke parts will swap so either fab up some exhaust yourself or look for a used kit. Holset turbos work wonders on these old idis. I've seen used kits for around 750-1000. I have a banks but from what I understand the ATS kits are the ****.

Just be careful if you install a turbo, invest in an ARP head stud kit, the increased pressure had a tendency to stretch the head bolts and blow head gaskets.

Depends on your skills. Hard for someone with tools/knowledge, no. But hard for someone with no experience and limited tools, then yes.

I put an ats kit on mine and it did ok, then put a VGT holset on and made a great upgrade
