Default Hx40 for work stock

Guys I was lookin at building a 12 valve for a lil work stock action and was looking for a "stock appearing" charger to put on the truck, my plans are to run 370's (need opinion on them) with delivery valves, holders and no fuel plate w/4k gsk, a homemade tank sump and a air dog 200 or so. I found a good deal on a super HX40 but dont know if it will work/pass tech .

Any comments, suggestions, ideas or opinions are appreciated

an air dog 200 is WAY WAY over kill! Fleece has a nice he351 stock appearing charger that is a 63/65 where as your hx40 will be a 60/65 price difference is gonna be HUGE though. run a fuel plate. 5x12's will be perfect for such a charger but get the correct spray angle for the 2nd gen trucks.

depends on the rules too. if you have to have a generation specific turbo you can build a hybrid from your hx35 as well.

Run yourself a modified carter lift pump... they are great and reliable.

i don't have the money for a vgt swap, i got the money for turbos under a grand. our techs around here at the pulls (mind you they say NADM rules which are The turbocharger is limited to a stock-appearing, OEM/Factory make-specific charger only. Turbochargers from different years in the same make may be interchanged, no adapters to accept other model turbo) just look for the holset cast into the housing and that there isn't a adapter and they send u on your way , as long as you don't have a hx82 or somethin big. the same guy thats got the hx40 has a 50 and a 55, anybody like any old style holsets?

It is very hard to tell the difference on a 40/35 by visual appearance. Near Identical.

how long do you think a 35/40 batmowheel hybrid would last with the wastegate clamped shut just for pullin?

not very, seems that a batmo is hard to balance. and clamping the wastegate shut on any turbo is a novice mistake. dont do that. i bury my 50psi gauge with the wastegate WIDE open. build it and she will run! chances are you will be running a 60mm wheel if you opt for a hx40 or a hybrid. i believe it is possible to squeeze a bigger wheel in there but i know no one that does. a 63mm wheels keeps you in the 2.5 class and many times that turns into the work stock, however there are very few work stock turbos that run such a wheel. again fleece has a he351cw base turbo they turn into a 63/65/9 compared to your stock 54/58/12 (i think thats what an hx35 is?)
