Weird noise
I've noticed lately that when I'm coasting an I. Light throttle my trucks makes a weird whining noise from in front of the steering wheel in the engine bay. My friend described it as a cat whining, but it goes away when I get to about a quarter throttle. I went to Dayton Tennessee yesterday and picked up a j10 jeep and pulled it home it was about a 350 mile round trip. Te truck did great, no overheating or any problems. Just that noise and when I got up this morning I checked under the hood and noticed a little puking on the degas bottle, I just replaced the cap on the bottle about a week ago.
if it responds with the turbo then it might need rebuilding, probably an idler bearing or the bearing in the AC clutch. If you can pull the frontend over a raised surface like a sidewalk and see if it is easier to hear the noise, if so check the AC pulley. You might have to loosen the belt and chech each idler pulley /all pulleys/ to find it.
It's like a squeaking noise. It only happens in very light throttle, like once I push the pedal about a half an inch down it stops. And it doesn't always do it when I'm coasting just always on light throttle. And it started after I had my number 2 injector and y pipe replaced.
Not in the cab. I will go check under the hood now. Could the y pipe not be hooked to the turbo properly?

Finally figured it out. The egr block off plate bolts were stripped and the plate was able to move up and down causing air to escape my intake manifold. I heli coiled the holes and tightened down the plate and no more noise!
