Default opinions on paint!!

i was thinking about my huge variety of paints for this upcoming week when my truck is getting repainted, and i am pretty set on pb5 blue- it is electric blue pearl coat, found on alot of 3 gens. i was gonna do it all one color but the idea of not having 2 tone anymore kinda bugs me. does anyone know where to get factory paint by the gallon besides the stealer-ship?

Word of caution on the pearl coat. With that pearl coat under neath it makes touch up painting very difficult. A scratch on a fender becomes painting the whole side of the truck to get it to blend. However a good 3 stage paint job does look incredible. Your body shop should be able to get factory colors, even if it's a reproduction.

i had my concerns about the scratches. i am willing to take the risk because of the incredible finish of the pearlcoat. how ever i want to do a 2 tone with silver again what silver do you think would match if i did a factory style 2-tone? thanks

Personally I don't think a silver like the stock silver will do that electric blue justice. The electric blue has a lot of pop, and the right silver will set it off. Here's a pic of my pop's ElCamino. His blue is a little darker, but it seems similar to me. His is a GM color called Marina blue and it's two toned with "pewter". Both are factory GM colors, and I think that darker silver complements a rich blue nicely. I used "Dodge Viper" silver on my Monte Carlo against a medium red. It's a nice bright silver with a little more depth than the stock first gen silver, and I think it would look good with the electric blue as well.

Check out Rusty89's new pics on the last page of "show us your first Gen ". It looks outstanding, and close to what it sounds like you want to do.
