Hey guys which transmission do i have in my 96 dodge 2500 5 speed. I read they made two just kinda confused just hope its the best one.

 

the 5-speed with a CUMMINS is a NV4500

 

ok thats the good one sweet. Whats with the 47re and all the other ones is there a code word for it just trying to learn stuff are is that the 24v trannys

 

These are the transmissions they offerd with a 2nd gen cummins

The automatic Transmissions that came with a cummins were the 47RH-47RE The 47RH was used in 1994 and 1995 model years....The 47RE was used from 1996-2002

The manual transmissions with the cummins was the NV4500 witch was standard in 2500 and 3500 trucks there smaller model was standard in 1500 the NV3500 They also had a NV5600 that they offered in 1999 to 2002 it came standerd with a cummins in 2001 and 2002

what makes the 47re the bad one???

 

nothings bad just a automatic which power seems to kill but you take car of it it probally would have no problems. And was just using that as a example.
