Hi all, I need some input on a problem.

01 24 valve has 266k on it and of coarse I've changed about 2 lift pumps before going to a FASS. It started acting up 12 months ago and I'm pulling my hair out trying to track it down. At 1st I thought it was a bad connection somewhere but now I'm not sure.

When the engine is cold/cool I get a dead pedal. I can cycle the ignition switch real quick and the engine will pick back up. Once the engine is warm It never does it again.

Fuel pres: 15psi idle, 10 - 8 psi WOT. When it drops to dead pedal the pressure stays the same. No water in the fuel. Anyone else had this erratic problem? Is it the Air Temp sensor? Map? Oh, and it isn't kickin any codes.

8-10psi at wot is pretty low for a fass. When was the last time the filters were changed? Are you getting white smoke? Checked for codes? Here is a link to Bluechip Diesel VP44 Diagnostic Follow their directions to test your apps and see if it is going bad.

 

Good news and Bad!

I read the post at bluechipdiesel.com. Went out this morning and let a hair dryer blow on the top of the injector pump for about 5 mins. Started up and it never missed a beat. So I guess the electronics in that box is bad. Cold solder joints most likely.

Anyone just replace or repair that control module?

I changed the fuel filter and the pressure went up and now stays at 15lb idle and wot.

 

I don't know of anyone selling just the electronics. Looks like you're going to be getting a new vp44. Or you can try this https://www.dieselbombers.com/98-5-0...ronic-fix.html
