anybody running an after market tranny cooler? if so what one and do you like it.... thinkin about putting a new one in with the new tranny so just curious

 

I'm running a Derale unit with a fan and temp switch to activate it. I plumbed it in after the factory cooler so it only turns on when the factory cooler can't keep up.

 

I've been lookin at the Derale.. Where do you have yours mounted at??? And is it a pretty good unit???

 

Mine is mounted in my front bumper bumper behind the winch hole. I have an aftermarket HD bumper on my truck. I do like the unit. The air it pushes out is pretty hot, telling me it is removing a lot of heat. The soft start fan is peace of mind as well. It doesn't just go from 0 to 100%, it slowly ramps itself up. I got mine with a temperature control switch. It closes it's contacts at 180*F, and opens the circuit at 165*F.

 

sounds like it works pretty well then... i really dont know if i need it i dont tow a lot normally if i do its just a 16fter with 4-6 quads on it.. but it would be piece of mind knowing that it shouldnt get to hot.. by the way how much does your front bumper wiegh?? just curious.. my cousin just bought a truck and it has a front winch bumper on it he is wanting to trade me, but the thing wieghs in at like 500 pounds and sticks out really far so i would have to modify it to get it to where i wanted it..
