Wrong ECM

Default Wrong ECM

Hey everybody new to the diesel scene.I got me a 99 cummins with 360,000 miles from the sister in law but she had the wrong ECM put in (vin# don't match) was wondering if I could put a used tuner or chip on it or do I have to order it special. Thanks guys

a cummins dealership can reprogram the ecm to vin match the truck. or you could use a tuner with it as long as its not on another truck.

They are the same, are they not? Weather you program the ECU, or put a tune into the ECU, isn't the end result the same?
