Default Haha So Who Says You Can't Smoke With Bio Diesel

so my neighbor makes his own bio diesel. then tells me you cant smoke with biodiesel.

so i had about 9 gallons left in the tank. i told him to fill it up then..... i had about a 70% bio blend. ran it for a few miles to make sure it wasnt gonna kill my truck.

then we went on the freeway. ...

all i have to say is i thought i had blown a headgasket weird colored smoke. lots of it.
even this morningn on the way to work just to see if it wasnt just a one time thing.

hehehe so now i guess ill keep running bio. i got about 4 mpg more. on this tank.

Make sure he is making the fuel properly or it could be extremely costly to repair your truck from the damage bio could do...

thanks for the heads up. he has a bit more then just a 3k$ bio machine.
i think he overfilters his fuel. has 2 huge filters and a smaller 10 micron filter right aftert he transfer pump. i will find out how small the 2 main filters work. knowing him tho. its somthing rediculous like 4 microns. he`s kinda a stickler about doing things right. hell i watched him throw out 100gallons, just because he didnt like thwe way it looked. before it was filtered.

The only reason I a bit leary of it yet is the fact the night temp around here are still rather cold at times... But winter temps here can get as low as -20*F to -25*F which bio diesel tend to gell rather fast.

But this summer if its available I give it a try...

Do you prefer to run biodiesel now? I noticed you said you got about 4mpg more to the gallon, have you seen any other improvements to the way your truck is running?

Anyone who is claiming a mileage increase by running biodiesel needs to post up their logged data to prove this. The only benefit of running biodiesel is reduced emissions. It doesnt improve mileage, costs more to maintain the truck, and produces less energy.

I run b-20 just for the lubricity........actually b-2 is better lubricity than that of the old diesel with sulpher in it
