Actually the computer doesn't do much on these diesels. Charging, A/C, Overdrive is about it. There are plenty of posts on here and other sites about bypassing it for these systems.

Try Dodge Diesel - Diesel Truck Resource - Cummins - Home, and Dodge Cummins Diesel Forum as well.

Unless your wiring is completely shot, you won't need to replace it.

If the PCM's working, it does all things well. When it's flakey, most of the time it's connectors, and cleaning them fixes it. I use DeOxit, available at your local guitar/music shop.

These trucks have a few wiring weaknesses. Headlight relays solve the smoking switch, dim light problems in one shot. Heater motor relays help that smoke problem. If you're doing serious towing, like fiver, gooseneck, or double tow, the stock provisions for trailer wiring are woefully inadequate.

Here's my solution to the trailer wiring for a fiver/bass boat double

Alternator will run on past era Dodge regulator.
Preheat will run on momentary switch driven by your finger.
OD can be either manual on a toggle or on a pressure switch or both.
New here, but detailed threads on all the above at DTR.

At that point, PCM is useless.

hope it helps

Why would you do this if it's all working. Even if your off roading it there is no reason to do all that

Trucks been scabbed together from previous owners (3 others not including me) rear half of the truck is all redone half assed an fuse block is scabbed together to say the least....truck will drain a 960cc 12 volt battery in about 2 hours if it stays hooked up and I got tired of unhooking it everytime I went somewhere....plus I plan to run lots of aux lighting an cooling fans a cb an mainly thats it just to make it a multi use rig
