Default H1C Turbo Charger (Stock) How to Wastgate?

Does the stock H1C Turbo Charger need to be waste gated? Or does the intake side need to be waste gated? It always seemed like my turbo reversed when the intake pressure "released" back through the air filter. Is this true?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Well, my mechanic and I figured out the Cummins and Dodge Engineers have to know about this, and the fact of the matter its probably some kind of shock wave back through the intake through the intercooler and rest of the intake and out of the filter the stock filter housing just usually muffles it but when the filter housing is removed you can hear it clearly and the turbo is just slowed down abruptly and makes this noise I am talking about. No worries nothing to be concerned about so I'm not going to do anything about it, its all good, I believe.

the noise you hear when you go from W.O.T and let your foot off real quick is the turbo being forced from spooling in one direction at 150,000-rpms (not exact just saying) then suddenly being forced (when you let off) to spin in the opposite direction. there is a way to waste gate the h1c but your going to spend about as much as you could pick up a hole turbo like an hx35 off of a second gen wich is factory wastegated and solve your worries and have a more efficient turbo

Does the HX35 bolt directly on?

almost. you will need a different down pipe. also you could look for a hx35 or wh1c turbine housing and bolt that to your h1c and be a 12cm gated 54/60/12 vrs a 56/58/12 on a hx35/wh1c. that shock wave is also called barking the turbo. it will eventually wear out the turbo. the 1st gen turbos were not gated because they had humungus turbine housings so it is hard to over speed them, but that is why they are so slow to make boost. they are 18 or 21cm housings.

So, anybody got a HX35 for sale? A second gen manifold and a downpipe for a second gen for sale?

you dont need the down pipe. its direct bolt on took me 45 mins to pull manifold/turbo as 1 peace and undid the intercooler piping and oil feed line. then bolted the hx35 to my manifold and reinstalled everything and started the truck. very easy to do and makes a decent inprovement.

I have an HX35 exhaust housing left over from a Banks upgade. Check to make sure it's what you'd need and let me know if you want to buy it.

How do I check, I have no idea how to do this? What kit maybe did you use? I do actually think the HX35 housing is what they use to upgrade the exhaust housing for the H1C to tell you the truth.
