Question Upgrades for towing?

On my 2004.5 LLY crew cab 4x4, looking to upgrade some stuff to help with towing our 5ht wheel camper. Plus will be doing something to help with the heating up issue. It does not over heat, but does get warm enough for the fan to run way to much. But then again temps been 100+ and towing 15,000 lb of camper.
If this was your truck, and you were looking to help it out on both towing and temps. What would you do to it?
Its stock other then 19.5 wheels and tires and right at 110,000 miles on it.

tnpete, I pull a 40 footer with my '05 LLY. I had a problem with heat until I did three things to the truck. 1st was i opened up the lower side of air box behind the headlight. I saw some good pictures at kennedy diesel web sight under duramax fixes. I didn't just cut out the side like they show, I cut a three inch round hole, installed a ABS 90* elbow and a 2 foot long pipe to get down behind the bumper. 2nd thing I did was took off the LLY turbo inlet elbow and installed the AFE elbow. The lbz and topkick elbow fit too (search it and find cool pic's). After I did these too mod's the truck ran under 210* all the time! And, a great benifit to me was that, the clutch fan stopped kicking on all the time. The third thing I did was add a tow-safe tuner that changed my torque curve to be down a little lower. The truck runs great and now, the only time the needle goes above 210* is when I don't let off on a long climb.

Dang!!! Nice trailer. A tuner for towing will make a world of difference. There are several to choose from. Research them first and compare before you purchase. Dont fall for gimicks.

Be careful is right when it comes to tuners... I found PPE, duramilage, and edge when I was looking 5 years ago. I chose duramilage because they advertised more towards economy... I, didn't get 3-5 MPG (more like 1) but, I love the power curve!

Just to clarify, I noticed less than 1 mile per gallon increase with the programmer. What I really enjoy is the where the torque/horse has been shifted to.

I understand that , But like you I'm looking for the Torque and HP that will help the truck out all around.

I would do basic mods... LIGHT tow tune, mouthpiece, exhaust, and gauges to monitor everything
