im wanting to do a tranny pan but not sure which one someone once told me the ppe deep pans have better cooling fins than the mag pans which is everyone running on there 5r110

 

Most guys are using an '08 and up pan with matching filter on their 5R110s for the added capacity. I'm sure now that I have posted this, someone is going to prove me wrong, things usually work that way.

 

08+ factory pan and filter or 08+ mag deep pan

 

The '08 and up pan is deeper than the 07 and down, therefore the matching pan filter is required.

 

The 08 pan is just shaped differently to hold what is more of a "true" filter vs. what is in our pans factory.

Adding a larger pan really will do nothing for you other than raise the cost of your transmission flush and make it take longer to cool down after you shut it down. The trans wont run any cooler with more oil in it.

so dont do a deep pan than i use the truck for towing. 10k lb camper, sleds, skid steer and occational heavy towing

 

I would get a water injectoin system if that's what my haul list looked like. Water injection will keep your egts down under load.

 

Nope, the stocker will work just fine. Those deep pans look cool and it's cool to say you have one, but really they don't do squat, other than empty your pockets faster. Put a trans temp gauge in and watch it, if you feel like you need a pan, put one on, report back here what you find in temp differences. The 5R110 is a beast, I've never even had mine over 200*. No matter what I'm towing or hauling or how many boosted launches I do, the trans always seems to run about 90* above ambient temp. So if it's 70* outside the trans is at 160*, never budges.

Agreed, there are other places to spend better money for towing heavy.

 

ok the truck has a factor trans temp guage im it to lookk at and i think the edge cts insight im looking at getting will moniter it and tell me how many degrees im getting. as far as water meth not neccesary in my boock i had a snow performance kit on my 500 hp 12v and was running 14gph nozels and it wasnt worth the money

 

Why not? I would stay away from the meth side of it myself, but if you ran like 20/80 mostly water, it will certainly help with EGT's.
