Default exhaust

ok im gettin reday to do my exhaust i currently have a 4" exhaust back magnaflow system with performance muffler im thinking i just want to do a 4" cat delete instead of the 4" turbo back since the downpipe is still 3.5" im in the save money stage right now so im leaning toward the cat delte in opinion on this would be great befor i buy the pipe

Yeah just get a straight piece to put in there. Are you sure it has a cat on it now?

Was that turbo back or cat back that I highlighted?

Either way, most 4" turbo back systems have a 3.5" down pipe, but OEM was 3". This is ID NOT OD! So if you measured 3.5 on the outside of you're down pipe, I have some bad news for you.

Next, my '03 had a 3" DP into a 3" RESONANTOR (about the size of a gas motor cat) into a 3.5" cat (that was removed before I bought it and Jones West Ford in Reno, NV somehow "missed" that detail, IN A SMOG COUNTY!!), then on to the tail pipe. The 6.0 cat is HUGE! So, if you have a 4" cat back like I did, save up $500 and buy a dedicated 4" turbo back system and DUMP what you have.

My exhaust is UGLY and I am considering replacing it with a true turbo back system. Although, given my lift, I have thought about having a local muffler shop make a straight pipe from my DP to bumper, straight, as in STRAIGHT over the axle, too.

Well not everyone has a cat, because a lot of people take them off. Usually when you buy a turbo back exhaust, the cat is not included and left off. I have no cat or muffler.

Karl, you can get 4" turbo back setups for under $300....

I'm listening...

Hold on, FOUND SOME!

Does a 4" dp make any difference over the 3.5 that I have now?

karl you wont notice anything other than a much more difficult install....

Karl, back in the day, farmboy fab used to sell 4" tb's for $265 and 5" tb's for $295... but I've heard nothing good about their service the last couple years.

I know my local guy sells 4" systems for $300 cash in hand... they're out there.

You're comparing apples and oranges there when comparing a Power Stroke to a Cummins. I changed from a 3" to a 3.5" down pipe on my 6.0 and saw improvements.
