Mixing ULSD And LSD Problems ????
This past weekend I borrowed my buddys 07 PSD to haul the plow truck my dad just bought for the new house(its not really highway worthy), when I got there(Orr, MN) I found out that there was no ULSD within 50 -100 miles and I was running close to empty. The 2 questions I have are if I would have put in a few gallons of LSD to get me to the nearest station and then filled up with ULSD would I have had big problems? Second, besides the Lucky Seven/Spur station in Virginia, MN does anyone know the closest station that carrys ULSD or other stations? Orr, MN is about 55 miles south of International Falls/Fort Francis on the MN/Canada border.
I did make it to a station because the aux. tank in the back of the truck luckily had 3 or 4 gallons left in it. |
i don't have anything useful to ad. i just want to say that sometimes it's nice driving a relic and that you should do a write-up on how to plug a tire.
|
I dont want to talk about it. :argh:

So say a guy gets in a pinch and maybe is forced to use some. Is there a safe amount?

Q. Can Low Sulfur Diesel fuel be burned without operational problems in 2007 model year and later cars and trucks?
A. Diesel-powered engines for 2007 and later model year highway vehicles are designed to operate only with ULSD fuel. Improper fuel use will reduce the efficiency and durability of engines, permanently damage advanced emissions control systems, reduce fuel economy and possibly prevent the vehicles from running at all.* Manufacturer warranties are likely to be voided by improper fuel use. Additionally, burning Low Sulfur Diesel fuel in 2007 and later model year diesel-powered cars, trucks and buses is illegal and punishable with civil penalties.* |
Thanks Whitmore, I sure am glad I ended up having a few gallons in the back I deffinatly would not have wanted to void the waranty the truck only had 17,000 miles on it. :c:

I didn't even think you could still buy LSD in the US. Makes me wonder if they just never updated the pump tags.
|
I wish I could find some LSD around here.

just get ya some ULSD with 10% bio mixed in and thats better than what ya had before

I get LSD on a bi-weekly basis out here, you just have to call up the fuel supplier and buy 500+ gallons at a time. There are still a few stations that have it out here also. Keep in mind this is RED fuel and we use it in our generator at work, but they said that they could still get LSD for road use.

The tailgaters just dont get a thick black get back cloud like they used too LOL.

I questioned it too so I asked the owner and he told me that they havent switched because it costs too much to have it shipped to them. :baby: So who knows if he is just dumb and doesnt know it has switched and has not switched the pump tags or he is just cheep which if i'm not mistaken means he is breaking the law. However on his behalf he said he thought the law was they needed to switch by Jan 1 2008, but he was unsure. All I know is if I am back up there with a newer truck again I will be sure to have the reserve take full also. :argh: |
I still get lsd around here at a few places...all the interstate truckstops around here have ulsd...and the 2007 powerstroke can run on lsd...it's the 2008 6.4's that lsd doesn't burn right in. The 2008's have the uber bad emissions crap.
