What kind of oil to use?

I want to change the oil in my tranny and diffs and I'm not sure what kind of oil they need, how much, and what kind I should use. The tranny is a NV4500 and the diffs are dana 60 for the front and dana 70 for the rear. (all for the truck in my sig) Any input would be great. Thanks

You need GL-4 oil for the transmission. Castrol Syntorque or Amsoil - the Amsoil is about a third of the cost or less.

For the diffs you can go dino or synthetic. Sythetic is best but it depends on how much you want to spend. You will need some friction modifier is you have a limited slip rear.

Also, you will have to decide on what weight of oil to run. 80w90 is good for the front diff.

Theres lot of good info here if you can be bothered to look around:

did you do a auto to manual swap in your truck? if not you should have the dana 80. I run the severe gear 75-90 in my front and rear end. you will need 8-9 qts. just did the amsoil in the nv4500 for my dads 99 and in a 97 motor home it seems to work well. no issues with shifting like some people say.
