I'm Gonna Go 25k Without An Oil Change...

If I can do it that is. Here is the plan. The truck now has 41,009 miles on it. I just changed the oil on it and dumped in 12 quarts of Amsoil AME HD 15w40 diesel and marine oil into the truck. I also used an Amsoil EAO oil filter. There is no bypass on the truck. My goal is to document the progression of the trucks oil in 25,000 miles. This means I will be changing it at 66,009 miles, or 1 year, whichever comes first. I plan on doing oil analysis every 5k miles or every 3 months, whichever comes first, and I WILL discard the oil if the oil analysis recommends that I do so. Would anyone be interested in the results of this? It might prove why Amsoil is THE oil to run.

For anyone interested in the effects of Amsoil on a gas engine, I will be performing the same experiment with my 1988 toyota pickup with a 22r motor. I changed the oil about 3k miles ago, and will have a sample pulled in another 2k miles.

Disclaimer: The Dodge only gets driven about 1 time per week right now, so it might take a while to get results :)

Sounds good. I use the Amsoil full synthetic in mine and the new filter. I'm going straight to 20k this time without samples. We have done it a couple times on another of our shop trucks with samples and everything was great, but we use an awesome additive from Muscle products called MT-10. The stuff is amazing. We had a student from Pitt in our shop for a week using our Timken bearing tester. He tested just about anything you can buy for oil and additives.

The last test he did was Lucas oil treatment with and without the MT-10. Then he tested straight tap water and then tap water with MT-10. The tap water with MT-10 out performed straight Lucas. We dont carry Lucas anymore lol.

Here is some info on the oil treatment MT-10

They also have a fuel additive that is better than anything we could find to test. Its called FT-10. It has some of the MT-10 oil treatment in it. FT-10
It works great on this new Ultra Low Sulfar Fuel. It brings back the lubricity (is that a word lol). This new fuel is hell on injectors.

I may have to give that stuff a try man! Sounds interesting, thats for sure! I was thinking of dumping 2 stroke in with every fill up, but I might try this stuff instead.

AMSOIL of course doesn't recommend any additives. Shouldn't need them if you have a good oil in there, but, would be nice to see some OA results with it in there. Not sure we'll see anthing different. Almsot need a side by side test to know if there is any benefit??
The every 5k plan sounds good. Hopefully will be good info for some.

I would be interested. when my lube for 3 years is up I plan on running amsoil.

The stuff works, that's for sure. I've run AMSOIL since 1994 in many trucks, gas and diesel. After all those years of use I finally decided to become a dealer since the product was top notch. I currently run the BMK-15Ea bypass kit on my '02 Cummins with the AME 15W40. Buy a quality lubricant and get quality results, it's been proven thousands of times.

i would like to see the results

personally i have only used Mobil oil.
Mobil 1 in my wife's car. 2004 Chevy cavalier.
we broke it in with the oil from the dealer then changed over to Mobil 1 after 12,000 miles.

Heath is right, additives are not needed with Amsoil. I think I will run this test without additives, then do another test WITH an additive like M10 to see what it turns out like.
