Emulsifiers and Demulsifiers
Whats do they mean to you ? |
Emulsifiers are things like Glycerides.
Add glycerides to oil and water and you can make an emulsion of the two liquids even though they normally don't mix. Cooks use emulsifiers to make things like whipped creams.. (I think eggs are also considered emulsifiers) Its an electrical polarity thing.. |
One Bunches Water Particals to improve your Filtration but catching the Chunks of water
The Other Breaks down water particals to the point that they pass through the fuel system/ engine unnoticed Correct? |
Ya, what murph said. Emulsify brings them together(oil and water) Demulsify separates.
So in engine oils, you want emul. properities to keep the water mix so it can evapoate off at running temps. |
So Whats Better for Fuel Additives ? And Which Fuel Additives on the market Are What?
|
For diesel fuel, you definitely don't want any emulsifier in it, ie. alcohol
You want the water separated. That why we pay $$ for those fancy filters:) Doesn't help combustion any. For gasers, on the other hand, it can be a god thing. Alcohol burns nice an clean, keep water out of the system and acts as a deicer in the winter. Although fuel mileage is sacrified as alchol % goes up. As far as what brands to go with, I've not used any but "ours". I know they are alcohol free. I'm guessing the other big names are but I let someone chime in the knows or has a bottle handy:) |
I think 50% of Diesel Fuel Additives are Emulsifiers , We need to list them and get the details ....
Power Service Redline Diesel Power Stanadyne Who Else .......... Once the list is compiled and information is dug up on whats what then I will build a PDF Guide , |
I'll start the other list:)
De-emulsifier.....AMSOIL's Diesel Concentrate |
Oh wait i was just listing additives So I could look up the info on them I wasnt saying them ones are Emulsifiers
|
I was wondering about that??
