Changing diesel fuel again??
 

I heard they were going to drop the 15 ppm to 0 next. Anyone else hear anything about this or is it just a rumor?

We are already at 15 ppm, so I doubt that it will make much of a difference.

It will make a big difference in 2 areas, public relations and cost of fuels. I am sure this will give reason to increase fuel prices even more. And I have a feeling it will help with public view and the environment and ozone stuff. They can say see what we are doing to help protect the environment by cutting out all sulfur so we arent producing the harmful emissions that is poisoning the world.....:q:

It cost over a million dollars to change over the catylist in each cat bed in the refineries to get it down to 15 ppm......................now its goin to zero????

The fuel has to be at 15ppm as dispensed to the end user (fuel islands).

Fuel leaving the refinery, due to transportation issues (pipelines, holding tanks, trucks, etc) is at a lower ppm due to possible sulfur contamination from other sources (off road fuel, bunker fuel, etc)......so according to a 'friend' in the business, the fuel leaving the refinery has been lower than 15ppm pretty much since the beginning, and the 'worry' is that it needs to go to 0ppm in order to pass the end user 15ppm requirement, unless dedicated ULSD transport and logistics are put in order.

I figured things were flushed and cross contamination wouldn't be as issue, but this is just info I yanked outta my ass from what a buddy with Sinclair told me last year.....

I've heard that as well. I think it was around 2010, about the same time the new oil specs will change as well. I'll have to try and dig that up, but the CJ-4, I belive, will be outdone in 2010 as well.

yes the fuel will change again after 2010 they will start withe the 5ppm then after2020 it will go to 0ppm this is the clean diesel act
