I've been running schaeffer oil for a while now . I'm not sure of the long range benefits . I did however see a test where it was compared to LE oil ; and the results were almost identical if not a liitle better for the schaeffer. 15-40 5Gal. pail 'bout 105$

did you have a link for there website ? Schaeffer Oil 3.0 | Industrial Lubricants | Diesel Fuel Additive | Synthetic Motor Oils

As far as Amsoil I have no info or comparison,:humm: sorry :ok1:

Syn 5-40

I have a 2003 f350 7.3l Dually bought in March 09 with 78,500 miles now have around 85,000 I put 6400 miles on my first run. Did a change and sent in oil for testing, came back with great numbers, I also run a Mobil 1 filter they told me to increase change intervals. I will run 10,000 this time and then do a sample and see what they say.I also run there syn tranny fluid and there syn blend in the rearend . 6 gallons of 5-40 syn cost me 110.00 here in St Louis Mo. With filter it is a 77.00 dollar oil change.
My brother in law just did a 60,000 mile run with bypass filters on Amsoil and oil testing also :c:{not sure the weight he is using} . Of course his oil changes are a bit more than mine. I will run this oil change to see how many miles we can go,i do not have the bypass filtration setup yet but you bet it is on the list.

That web site link is the one i always use.

If you do some reading on the web you will find alot of good reading on there products
Bob is the oil guy is a great lubrication website

Thanks for input

Rotella synthetic is not a true synthetic - its a group III which is only marginally better than the conventional Rotella oil.

If you are looking for a synthetic - Amsoil, Mobile, Exxon XD-3 0W40, Red Line, Royal Purple, (probably Schaeffers but Im not 100% sure) - all make true Group IV synthetics.

Schaeffer Oil 3.0 | Industrial Lubricants | Diesel Fuel Additive | Synthetic Motor Oils It looks like barnhart-davis the napa dealer in ridgeway would be your closest source for schaeffers. Give em a call and see if they can fix you up . I'm about 5 miles out of DuBois heading towards Clearfield on US 322.:5::pals:

Schaeffer is suppose to be a pretty good oil. The series 9000 is considered the full synthetic line. The 7000 series is a synthetic blend. I see the 5W-40 is only made in the 9000 so assume that's the one we are talking about.
The 9000 series is considered synthetic although it is still made with PAO(group 4) and hydrocraked bases(group 3-petroleum). Still a good product but made with some group 3 so it is a little cheaper. That info was right on their site. (I applaud them for putting this info on there. Many companies try and hide the fact it may not be a group 4 or 5 product and just call is synthetic.) Just wanted to be sure we were comparing apples to apples.
AMSOIL is made in Superior, WI....another American made:)
