using vegetable oil as fuel
Hi Guys,
I’ve read a lot on the forum about diesels running on used vegetable oil, it might sound scary but if it’s done right it can half your diesel costs which is a massive saving over the year. I found this helpful www.howtofiltervegoil.co.uk It tells you how to do it but more importantly what NOT to do and where to get all the bits from as well. I’ve been running mine on used oil for 18 months now and its ace. I recon the engines smoother but that’s properly just me? |
give us some better detail on how it works for you and what all you had to do to the vehicle to accomidate the alternative fuel source

I don't think we have diesel Land Rovers in the USA. Is yours a Discovery? What year?
Tell us more about your rig? We like pictures too... |
Me thinks it's spam cause the URL takes you to a paypal link.

The simple blend here is the most cautious and fool proof. >>> During "summer conditions" you can easily run the following: 1.5g Gas / 3g #2 / 7.5g WVO I know the gas scares people...Hey don't bother Here in northern Michigan, we run the mix without gas at all depending on the temperature. Usually July / August. The point is ....it works :U: If you are interested but don't want to experience any chance of problems, back off on the gas or eliminate it completely and just add some filtered oil when you fill up. Try this experiment....I do this all the time :ok1: Do a test sample. Say 50% WVO/50% #2 diesel.... in a clear peanut butter jar (that has been cleaned of course!).. Set it outside and look at it in a couple of days... Likely it will not begin to show signs of separation until the temp gets down say...30-40deg. The biggest trick is starting on the fuel, once up and running it works real well. So go easy on it and you will be impressed how well it works. *** Do not however try this on a newer high pressure fuel system *** 03 and older Power stroke - 12v Cummins work well :rocking: have fun :c: |
