ULSD And Older Diesels
 

I called a shop in salina about putting a gov spring in my 92'. The conversation turned to ultra low sulfur diesel fuel and what, if any additives should u run. They said you need a good quality fuel conditioner. They suggested using Marvel Mystery Oil http://www.marvelmysteryoil.com/main.taf?p=0
Im gonna try it on both of my diesels. They said it's cheap and does the job well and readily available. They said to use it in every thing older that an 07'. Just wanted to see what eveybody else was doing as a preventitive measure to keep their trucks running! thanks , and would love to hear back some other ideas too.

Lots of guys use MMO....I would too but its $$ where I live. I generally use a mix of fuel conditioner (Power Service or Howes Lubricator), and non detergent 30 wt engine oil OR Castrol TCW-3 2 cycle oil.

Agree, something needs to be added. MMO is a popular product. Power service as well. Myself...just use diesel concentrate the big A company put out. :)

I just started using a mix of 16oz. Power Service and 8oz. of 2-cycle oil and adding 1oz. of that mix to 1 gallon of diesel fuel... I have run Marvel Mystery Oil in my Tractor most of the time since I got it. It had one valve that wanted to tick slightly and using it has helped reduce that.

I use Stanadyne and Power Service myself. Pre-07 trucks, especially 95-06, only need additives with ULSD for the lubricity because of the much lower sulfur content. Trucks before 95 need it because of the rubber that was used in the fuel system will deteriorate and leak, as well as the need for lubrication properties.

I have used Power Service in the white jug in the winter for a antigel, might have to try it for an lubricity additive. Also have seen that howes lubricator at the sapp bros. truck stop here, might have to give it a try too. MMO is alot cheaper than power service here per gallon. Like 7-9$ a gallon diff!! me niether doc!! I just started running 2 stroke oil in the 92'. We are gonna see how it goes. I don't think there will be any problems.

Theres a thread running about the two stroke oil right now. Seems like a good idea, but I think I will probably use Stanadyne myself.
