600 Mile Tank

I drove my ['07 5.9l 4x4 SB Auto] from San Antonio to Decatur, Texas and back about 290 miles each way for the Thanksgiving Holiday. This is the first time that I broke 600 miles on a tank of fuel.

The tank was about B10 Bio-Diesel. I usually get better mileage with all petrol-diesel. So, I suppose that I could have gotten even better mileage with all petrol-diesel.

I drove as steady as possible between stops and slowdowns for each of many towns that I had to go through. I probably could have gotten even better mileage on an all non-stop hiway.

The overhead display read 22.5-23 mpg. The odometer read 608.4 at fillup. It took 32.703 gallons to fill it up. 608.4 ÷ 32.703 = 18.6mpg.

Just an observation... I usually run "some" percentage of bio-diesel in the tank. Once I had filled up completely with petrol-diesel, I began noticing a little more rattle than usual.

Anyway, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Not bad...

236 Miles on the trip odometer barely under the 7/8 mark on the gauge...

ScanGauge II shows 23.7 MPG...

597 miles to Empty plus the 236 miles travel that is 833 Mile to a tank total.

Here is a day later when I filled up after that trip... From Missoula, MT to New Meadows, ID.

123,904 - 123,558 = 349 / 14.893 = 23.43 MPG's :w2:

All done on #2 diesel and 2 cycle oil (128:1 ratio)...

Yeah I agree... I was hitting 21-22 MPG all summer long. But as soon as winterizied fuels and a change of tires it fell on it rear... I'm now praying for 17-18 MPG if I can get it...

Nice! I stopped caring. I fill up when I can afford it, but luckily for me, my dodge is not my daily driver. I filled it to the brim for the first time in a LONG time, and paid $2.15/gallon.. $70.00 for about 33 gallons of fuel. I have found that my trucks overhead actually reads about 2 mpg less than what I am actually getting.
