Running WVO

I'll be hauling in Texas. Are there any regs against using cooking oil in a commercial operation?

Murphy2000 04-26-2007 11:26 PM

Not that I know of.

You're burning WVO or biodiesel? No laws on either.. at least I've not heard about any.

There is an issue of road taxes in some states but that's not a "pull you over and check your fuel" type thing..

No bio. Too expensive and bad for hoses and seals.

You run waste veggie oil by starting the truck with your diesel fuel, then switch to veg when it gets warm enough to flow through the fuel system. You need a special heated tank for the vegoil. When you're ready to shut down you switch back to diesel.

A small hauler like myself can save lots of money running vegoil.

No laws against it that I know of either....yet.

What about the tax man? Are they on the lookout for VO users to be sure they get their fair share?

I have heard that in CA this is a fact, they have a tax form for homebrewers to send in payment for there estimated fuel use that was not taxed.
CA has ALOT more people doing this right now than the rest of the states.
Other states will follow as soon as it becomes more popular. I am still buying some diesel at the pump, the VO is more like a "fuel extender"...lol.

Good to know, thanks Clay.
