i herd that puting 2 stroke oil in your fuel tank felps with something what exactly can i expect buy doing so and how much do i put in a tank

wildbill 04-14-2008 10:42 PM

Suppose to aid in lubricity. Been running a qt/tank.

94cummins12v 04-14-2008 10:47 PM

does it help with fuel milage and im running a 90 gallon tank so that must mean i have to ad three qts

2500HeavyDuty 04-15-2008 12:10 AM

yeah its usually about one quart per 30 gallons, and i have seen better mpg on my truck and the truck will run quieter...good luck with making a 12v quieter lol

AlCorr 04-15-2008 05:22 AM

I've been using 1 qt. per tank, (20-25 gal.)

94cummins12v 04-15-2008 10:29 AM

i love the sound of my loud 12v

im sure the people at the drive thru's love it also

dodgefish 04-15-2008 10:54 AM

I use 1qt/tank fill and 1 gal of used engine oil smokes a little but I know the lubrcation factors there.

AlCorr 04-15-2008 02:02 PM

I pick it up at Walmart supertech for $8.49 per gal.

I think 2 stroke oil I think is good enough I would think would do the trick, I just switched back from power service because I don't need the antigelling since its getting warmer everyday and my truck is running better too. I wouldn't run used engine oil as a Lubrication, I hope you are filtering it real good.

I love the sound of the old mechanicals also and you doesn't quite it too much you will probably need to shut your truck down when ordering at the window regardless...I swear window clerks need to get better hearing... but there something to be said about cheap insurance. Pump lubrication is a must with ulsd.

2500HeavyDuty 04-15-2008 11:16 PM

I gotta turn my truck off and i gota Dmax

01quadcab 04-15-2008 11:33 PM

yeah 2 stroke oil does the trick for me. 1oz per gallon and the idle is quieter on mine and I picked up some mileage.

yeah drive thru's are a must to turn off the rattle traps as my neighbor calls them. if the lady is rude and the drive thru you can always smoke her out too.

94cummins12v 04-16-2008 12:23 AM

yep thats the way i look at it also but i used to leave my truck running when my last ex-girlfreind worked at zips for a month, she said that listening to my cummins was the highlight of her day

AlCorr 04-16-2008 10:40 AM

Believe it or not, 2 stroke oil is good for anti-gelling also.
That's what I was told.

JakeDeisel 04-16-2008 12:23 PM

I will quite it down a little bit you will still hear the engine going down the road, (sounds great) You should get a little better mileage, not much though. But with fuel prices were they are at any little bit helps.

Listening to the UPS truck (cummins) drive by makes me all excited , he usually brings me something

The best thing you can use for lube that is if you can get it is 2% Bio.

Alcorr,

My self I have yet to see proof that 2 cycle oil when added to diesel fuel is works as an anti gel.

JMHO

Have you ever seen the oil in your weed eater gel during the winter?

2500HeavyDuty 04-16-2008 11:14 PM

who uses a weed eater in the winter?

dats for de summer homes

06Dodge 04-17-2008 12:15 PM

No my weed eater oil does not gel up as my weed eater runs on electricity :) But I have seen 2 cycle oil thicken up at -24 below zero in side of my garage.
