John Deere 6300 nocking

We have a John Deere 6300 with 2500 hrs wich has been running just fine until today I was out mowin sod when the stop engine and oil pressure light came on and by the time i got back to the house it was nocking real bad and it has a ton of blow by and this just started today. I think the engine needs rebuilt wich is about 700 to 1100 plus labor and stuff. ANy opinions or similar experinces?

When the stop engine light comes on it means stop. Not drive home. Sounds like it is going to need a major OH. Good luck

I know it means stop I wasnt 200 yrds away from the house. My local shop said it will take a major overhaul and the crank will have to be ground proboly. Im looking at $825-$1200 in just parts.

Could possibly be the turbo.I had a Cummins engine have a bunch of blowby and it turned out to be the turbo.Otherwise you might have dropped a valve.I would check the turbo first if it has one.Its a cheap fix if that is the case.

HOw wl i be able to tell if it is the turbo? Will it have excessive play?

The only way to tell is to take the turbo off the tractor.Yes test it for play in the impellers and if it has too much freeplay then send it in for a reman and get your core charge.Good luck.
