Power increase on John Deere??
Anybody have any input on how to increase the power on a John Deere 3010?
Any help greatly appreciated, Thanks. |
what year is it?? I know TS has there AG chips if it is new enough for the fuel system to be electronic
unfortunately it a 1962 model, so that is out of the question. Its going to have to be all mechanical mods.
yeah it will definately have a mechanical injection pump on it, your best bet is to find the injection pump and look for a screw or something that has what looks like baling wire running thru it to keep someone from :":messing:": with it and chances are that is your fuel screw...now i would say to have the engine running when you start :":tweaking:": this in case it starts to run away or do something you dont want it to and you can return it back to normal fast, and probably have a piece of plywood to put over the air intake incase of runaway too:humm:
hmmmm... i know exactly where that is located. I think i just might look into that. Any other ideas, maybe additions to it or something?
Nitrous!?!?!?!?! :D :tttt:
It really depends on what ya want to do with it, you could make ya custom air intake, get injectors made or cut for it, add a turbo or get a bigger one if it already has one:humm::pca1: |
it doesnt have a turbo. I had actually considered installing a turbo. Im not trying to do tractor pulls just get some more juice for out in the field. Its got an oil bath air cleaner, and seems to get plenty of air.
really air and fuel is the way to make power so more air and more fuel will get you more power:pca1:

Would any turbo work? And would it work with the oil bath filter? |
that i would not know :sorry: im sure someone might maybe one of the old timers on here:w2: you would however probably need a pretty small turbo since your not really pushing that much fuel
yeah i was worried that would be the case. just wanted others input on this

HAHA starting the same thread on another Forum I like that Did you ever figure out what pump it was Can you take a Picture of it.
well i have never modded a 3010 there just a base farm tractor put a straight stack on it to get a little more power, if you want a good tractor get a JD 4320 its a 4020 with a turbo from factory, you turn the fuel up on them and dam will they go and have all the power to spare.. have one on the farm and its a great tractor.
to put a turbo on that 3010 ur gonna have to change air stack and run a secondary oil line from oil pump primary line to turbo you should be able to run a small cummings turbo on it with a few modifications!! straight pipe the intake stack and throw a k&n or a green performance filter on it with a prescreen cover that way your safe of nothing getting into turbo!!!
i am a tractor tech for deere and if you want to put a turbo on it M&W makes a turbo kit for the old 10 and 20 series deere tractors. just make sure that you dont put to big of turbo on them though, the heads really aint made for much boost. You can also put a different intake on it to if it has a oil bath. hope this helps you

Try painting it red! Everything runs better in red! Just a joke, but I do prefer red and blue. You may want to check out sites dedicated to tractors, maybe yesterdaystractors.com. Good luck, those are some of the better looking tractors Deere made.

ok let me ask yall, I have a 6110 JD at work. And it has a turbo, and it only pushes 65 horses. What do yall think I can do to get more power out of it. It is used to drag an indoor dirt arena.
i think just turning the fuel screw and stacking it will get you a few ponnies, if you plan on turboing it check and see what mw offers b4 trying to fab somthing
for the newer tractors do you just need a chip for more power
:hellox: |
I will tell you know to be careful with adding power to a 3010. The crank shafts were made cheap and have a reputation to crack. The turbo is a good mod but don't go too big and don't push over 12 psi. I know that don't sound like much but if you go any higher you WILL blow the head gasket quite a bit. I would look into tuning the pump and maybe a set of 4010 injectors and rebuild them.

leaf spring in the pump if its a stanadyne
anyone know how to set the hydraulic pressure on a deere?:jump:
