anyone work at a Kubota dealer?

Anyone?

I am looking for a maintenance/tech manual for a Kubota DT185.

my steering box took a dump and wanted to look at some of the break downs.

If any of you can get your hands on a manual let me know.

I don't work at Kubota but I know where some manuals are and I might be able to photo copy and send them to you.If not I know of a 2nd place that would have them more than likely as they have a dealership in my area.

I have that break down, my local dealer sent me it. But he wasnt real upcoming with info about removal and replacing/repairing.
I just want to know the quickest way to get the parts out as the steering shaft goes throught the fuel tank and at the end of the shaft is that ball nut so I just can unbolt the shaft and pull it out of the way. it looks like I'll have to remove the fuel tank (which will suck) which means the dash and everything will have to be pulled as well.
I also wanted to know if the whole steering box assembly can be purchased or will I have to get all of the parts seperate. I am not actually sure which part of the steering is bad. i am pretty sure it is something in the box as it was harder to turn one way than the other. it also sounded like rice crispies when the steering wheel was turned. I could also turn the steering wheel at least a half of a turn before the wheels would turn. i did the adjustment on the box but the more I adjusted the harder it woas to to turn. I am just not sure what failures the parts in the steering shaft can cause. I do know the box was rebuilt a while before I bought it. Who ever rebuilt it filled it with grease and not gear oil.
any help or remove and replace procedure would be awesome. any common failures for the steering wi
I eventually want to get a repair manual for this tractor but for now I'll just have to fix what I have.

thanks for the break down picture and for any other help you can give

it is available as a assembly but it's 645.00 bucks :argh:

you have to pull dash and tank, flat rate in the book for this is 1.5 hours r&r the old shop book I have is not very descriptive about r&r of the unit, (manuals back then sucked).

I'll help with what I can :c:

the steering box assembly is $645 or everything in the picture above?

either way. Yikes.

yeah i figured thats the way iwas going to be. lol its not to hard but it just sucks I'll have to drain the tank and such.
But I have to seperate in order to figure out where the issue is.

well, I pulled it all apart and when the owner before me had the box rebuilt it wasnt rebuilt properly. when I first got it I did a complete fluid change and noticed that the steering box was filled with grease instead of gear oil. So I figured that when it was rebuilt that the person didnt feel like replacing seals or something and decided that grease would be fine as it wouldnt leak. Well I was right on the leak part. when I pulled the shaft off all of the worm gears were chewed up. went I removed the box there were two bearing that were destroyed. I turned the box over and the bottom was cracked off. but it wasnt a new crack. the re builder JB welded the bottom of the box on. so the shaft was able to go farther than it should have. so I f was to buy all the parts needed to rebuild I would be in the 500 range as just the steering box housing is $175 alone then I would have at least a half of a day putting it all together. So I opted to just get the whole assembly and have it back together in an hour.
so it looks like I wil be selling a bunch of pulp wood to pay for that. :ph::booo:
