8n Backhoe??

was there ever a backhoe made for a 8n?
i can't seem to find one but my farther insists they where made.

redneckbuckeye 05-18-2008 07:23 PM

Did the 8n even have remotes?

bow2no1 05-18-2008 07:31 PM

what do you mean? the controls in the back?
figured they could be put there?

LOGANSTANFORTH 05-18-2008 08:14 PM

not if it dosent have the hydraulic capacity or a hydraulic pump.....

bow2no1 05-18-2008 08:23 PM

it has a hydraulic pump for the loader on the front. :U:

LOGANSTANFORTH 05-18-2008 08:56 PM

make sure it has enough capacity it needs to run the multiple remotes on the rear......

google works also......
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=8N+backhoe

I would not dare put one on a 8n I've seen them tear a 50hp tractor in half.My dad had a front end loader on one but with all the weight you have to put in the back you can't steer it.They do make a backhoe unit that works on the 3 point hook the pto to the pump and has it's own hydro tank.

Whit 05-18-2008 09:17 PM

small PTO mounted bachoe attachments actually work quite well on tractors like an 8N....they mount on yer 3 pt hitch and the PTO runs an aux hyd system

My dad has one ......it aint for hard diggin but they do pretty good

Uncle Bubba 05-18-2008 11:02 PM

Only 8 and 9N's I've ever used were doin good to mow with. We had a loader on one when i was a kid along with a cement barrel on the 3 point. The only thing the loader was good for was haulin grain out to the cattle creep feeders. We bought it in bulk and just put the scoop under the gravity wagon door. I can't even imagine a backhoe on it. Seems like the bucket would pull the tractor.

I've seen this set up for front forks/loaders and backhoe attachments... but not for an 8N. But, I'll bet that someone made one over the past 70 years of that tractors life.

I've never seen or used them with anything more than a shredder.

GRI 05-19-2008 10:44 AM

I know the state highway guys and county guys had them on 9ns here in NY

Don't know what project you need this for but a real backhoe or even one a those Miny Mite small backhoes will do as much in a day as you would do with this 8N in a week. Just rent one and be done with it. This wouldn't be any cheap venture even if you built the system to find an attachment for your tractor.

nothing particular. i just bought a nice low trailer. thought if i had a back hoe to go on it i might be able to pick up some work in my spare time.

Nice 8N never heard or seen anybody put duals on an 8N before.Sweet makes it that much more powerful plus that V8 engine that would make for one hell of a little acreage tractor.
