Pyro Gauge Install

So I have learned that the Exhaust Shop installed the pyro port in the wrong spot on my truck...So now I want to put it in the correct place.

I know where to install it, but I am I wanting to know about getting shavings out of the manifold after drilling and tapping.

I have read about not using grease and to not do it while the rig is running...My question is, Will the vacuum suck hard enough to get all the shavings out? Did someone fab up a hose attachment to the vacuum hose and the pyro port?

Just drill and tap.. The shavings will fall out... You are drilling straight up so gravity will bring them down. Also, drill bits are designed to throw the shavings out of the hole.

What about tapping the hole? Will the tap do the same thing?

Yes, I have never tapped a hole...except...well that's another thread on a way different website...Chika-bow-wow!:rocking:

LOL...

Anyway, unless you live somewhere that has turned off the gravity to save money, the shavings will fall into your eyes, shirt and burn the piss out of your armpits...

Drill, tap, Install.

Any little tiny shavings or chips that defy the laws of gravity and fall up, will blow right past the turbo without issue.

Ok beautiful, thank you guys, that is exactly what I need to know.

I hope ya'll can have patience with me, I try to do this stuff myself for two reasons:
1) I am broke as a joke and I'm trying to save money.
2) If I don't try this myself I will never learn, and I want to learn a lot.
So Thank you for the info and the patience.:c:

Anytime- Love it when a guy does stuff himself, its truely the only way to learn.

Get in there and get it done! I was scared to do it my first time cuz I didn't want to get shavings anywhere they shouldn't be, but my Dad told me to get in there and do it and we will fix whatever I mess up later. As soon as all the shaving's started burning my face, I figured they wouldn't be going anywhere else. Lol!

Where do you put the pyro and what is the safe level to be in for your EGT's

1 Attachment(s)
Drivers side Manifold.
And I think most people go by 1250 for any sustained amount of time. Above is ok for a short time.
