California Emissions???
Alright, Here's the deal. My 2000 F350 is in California right now. My registration is due this month in Colorado, and requires emissions. I've got Swamps 175/146 Single Shots, and a TS 6pos Chip. Neither are legal mods in California so I'm told. The Ford dealer said they could remove the chip ($60 bucks) and then do emissions ($60 bucks). I mentioned the injectors and..... that was stupid :argh:. I think they will still do the emissions for me after they remove the chip, but I am concerned that it will not pass emissions without the chip installed. Swamps said the truck would run a little rough without the chip, but I didn't ask about particulates coming out of the tailpipe. Anyone....Anyone...:humm:

175/146 are VERY mild injectors... It should pass without issue.
Pull the chip yourself, why the heck would you pay 60 bucks to pull the chip? |
That was going to be my plan, but I am in Colorado and the truck is in California. I've got long arms, but not that long. I'll be out there over Christmas, so I can take care of it then. Thanks for reply. I just didn't want to have to pay $60 bucks for a failed emissions test. I'll let you know how it goes.

Went well. No issues at all. The truck does have a little accelerator response lag and idle creeps up without the chip in, but no smoke or anything during the emissions test.
|
I think for turbo diesels you're allowed 35% smoke and 45% for non turbo's.

I watched at the place I went to and asked questions about the process. He said they don't have to check particulates at the tail pipe. All they do is give it a quick rev and if any noticeable smoke comes out, then if doesn't pass. Pretty old school, but I am sure there will be advances for checking particulates soon enough.

really? cali of all places and that's all they did. in golden, co they pretty much have the wheels turning 90 mph then put the brakes on the drums and bog it as much as possible to get as much smoke out as possible.
|
I know, that's how it was when we were in Fort Collins too. The guy said California was working on more strict emissions for Cali, but I'll take it for now. :w2:
|
kansas... no emissions!
|
emissions tune and a hidden chip are the way to go lol
