I NEED HELP ON MY 01 7.3L POWERSTROKE 4X4! PLEASE!!!!!
Hey everyone. I just recently bought a 2001 ext-cab xlt lariat powerstroke diesel 4x4. I'm posting this thread to ask for help. I want to modify the truck far as power, including. Chips, programmers, exhaust, etc etc etc. So please help. Thanks.

power hungry performance is what i run, there great! tons of power, there called php, put 4 inch turbo back exhaust on it, but make sure you get gauges!!!

im not wanting to spend more than 3grand on upgrades

Intake... AFE-2 is fine, and flows great, but its expensive... Gauges... My preference is Isspros EV-2's are great! I would not mess with the compressor wheel, if you run into surge then go for a ATS ported housing or a 1.00 exhaust housing, both are more money, but do not effect performance like the wheel will (the wheel moves less air) |
go with PHP for your tuning and never look back bud, i love mine from them, and i would ditch the wheel out of it and just get the ATS housing like said above, and also for the air intake just go with S&B its cheaper, or you can just make your own if you are a decent fabricator? best of luck man :c:

Don't forget about your tranny. Better converter, more cooling, shift kit, hard parts for the auto and a good clutch for the manual.

i have a brand new tranny thats been upgraded by ford and is still under warranty so idw to mess with it at least until the warranty runs out and the reason for the ts chip and afe stage 2 is because i know a guy who runs a diesel performance shop and can get both plus him installing them for me for 550$. does anyone know how fleece turbos are with powerstroke?

youve never heard of fleece performance? its sorta like efi live. its basically unheard of on anything except a dmax but they do make turbos for powerstroke.

I would bet money they do not "make" turbos for the 7.3... I would say they may have a rebranded turbo of some fuction...

Im not sure. I suppose ill stick with simple mods like the chips, gauges and stuff. Im really hearing good reviews about the ts 6position chip and beings i can get it and an afe-stage 2 intake for 550$ ill just stick with that and the 4in turboback exhaust run into duals with 8in tips in front of the back tires.

I would skip short piping it... It will turn your tires black all the time. Duals will not gain you any performance.

oh thats no good ha, they use a mixture of salt and dirt or some shit here, its a pain to get off the chrome wheels, and i have yet to see a truck dual out in front of the tires, you'll have to post up some picks when she's done :c:

here they just use plain salt and sand, no dirt or anything, its really hard on the trucks

I just can't imagine a 8 inch tip out in front of the tire... thats pretty big...wouldn't a 5-6 look just as nice?

Yeah, i will. im working on uploading the pics now but im not very technologically inclined when it comes to computers. and 5 or 6 probably would but i mean i might as well stove pipe it lol. idk yet though, it really just depends on how im feeling that day honestly lol.

My truck has a TSperformance 6pos chip, 6637 napa air fitler (works great), autometer gauges, 4in down pipe, 4inch back into 5inch into 6inch stacks, a bull dog shift kit, im working on getting a 6.0litler tranny cooler, and a x-wheel (and im gona make a 20psi pop off vaule for the map sensor).
I would recommend all these things for your truck they work great on mine and my tuck has 290,xxx miles on it. you dont need the stacks but you do need a 4inch downpipe and a 4inch exhaust for sure. |
mine at the moment has the ts 6 pos chip with a k&n cold air intake but i switched the k&n wet filter for an amsoil dry filter and gauges and i think far as performance im gonna leave it at that for now because that made plenty of horsepower and smoke for me. the only thing i have left is the 4 inch turbo back into duals in front of the back tires.
