how much boost can i put through my truck before it breaks things? i have an intake, exhaust, tranny, and an edge EVO II which is fixing to be turned into a 6 pos. chip... i want to put a new turbo on my truck that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, any help would be greatly appreciated.

stock turbo about 25psi and with stock head bolts about 40psi.

Look up Wide Open Performance...

They are in your area and could hook you up with what ever you would like. They are one of the top shops in the country for the 7.3

Keep in mind a few things, boost is not HP... And you have Powdered Metal Rods (PMR's)

They like to go pop at around 400hp.

Lange503 02-22-2010 11:28 PM

how hard is it to change the rods? and it is the push rods that you are talking about correct?

Benjamin 02-22-2010 11:32 PM

he is talking about the connecting rods that connect the piston to the crank shaft.

engine removal is a MUST to replace them.

Lange503 02-22-2010 11:39 PM

oh wow that freakin sucks, so might as well just deck out the motor while you have the damned thing out, would i be safe putting a stealth pump stage 2, some injectors, and a turbo on it without breaking them?

Benjamin 02-22-2010 11:49 PM

i believe it all comes down to the tune and how aggressive it is.

Lange503 02-23-2010 12:37 AM

so basically just go with what i want now, and just keep the tunes safe?

joebob3093 02-23-2010 12:57 AM

do what you want but as a good rule of thumb is 400hp on a PMR engine. some have blown at higher HP and some have blown at lower HP.

As I said before... With a PMR motor you need to play it safe or you will be on the side of the road walking.
