4 on the floor?
Got an 86 f250 with a twin turbo 97 powerstroke with extensive mods putting me near 550 horse. Should I stick with my c4 trans stick shift or change it out for a 97 automatic out of a buddy's f550? Doing mostly street driving but some muding too since the truck is on 38's and and lifted as my county will alow for legal road use.

:humm::humm::humm: I thought a C-4 was a 3 speed automatic:humm:

Your right I'm not sure why called it a c4.... Anyway, I've got the option to get an automatic from an f550. Any suggestions?

The auto will not hold up. Nor will the manual if your truely making 550hp, which I highly doubt.
You will have to have the e4OD in the 550 completely built if you want to run it. |
It's been on the dyno. 536 hp. I was hoping if I stuck with the 4 speed I could live with my after market clutch and be done but if the automatic will be a hassle then I'm not sure I want to put the money in it, and your saying the stick won't last either?

The manual will start spilling its guts if you run it hard at all.
The auto will just not hold up without being built. Auto would be a better set up over all, but it will not hold the HP level. |
