Multiple fuel tanks
 

Looking to put an AirDog 150 on my 07.5 3500. Would also like to add a second or even a third fuel tank. Any ideas on how to run the fuel lines? Stock tank is one thing, the second tank will be in the bed of the truck(100 gal "L" tank) and it would be cool if I could reroute the exhaust system to the outside of the frame rail to add another tank inside the frame rail on the right side.

There is a kit you can buy that fits in the fill neck. ( cut some of the factory neck out and this goes in that place) or you can take factory off, drill a 1/2 hole and wled a collar on. With the fuel tank in bed drill hole in bed run tubing to the fill neck. Have a shutoff valve located at tank. Plug vent on tank and you are ready to go. I have a custom built 60gal with toolbox, NO problems.

Thought about that but my preference would be to be able to switch tank from inside the cab. One tank straight diesel the other either straight homebrew biodiesel or a blend of bio and reg diesel.

I run on the extra tank all the time. Gauge shows full and when gauge start reading I know it is empty. ( around 1000 to 1200 miles ) at that time I know that I have another 400 to 600 miles to by fuel. (When traveling) I went to South Dakota from Texas a few years back and it was nice.

any parts house should have an electric valve from one of the trucks with dual tanks and they will have the switch if you want to change from inside the cab

Im going to assume that I put an electric switching valve between the tanks and the AirDog 150 and just have it draw from which ever tank is on. What about the return line that feeds back to a tank. Should I leave it on the OEM tank and hope that it doesnt overflow if Im drawing from the auxilary tank?

Guess I could put a second valve in to switch the return line as well. :humm:

I have a 60 gal bed tank, I run it to my Fass since it sets higher than the pump to supply a positive suction head of about 2 psi to the pump......every 27 inches of fuel column will give you 1 psi

anyway my oem tank is my spare fuel, in the summer I keep bio in there so I can blend up with my bed tank..........I try to run 80-20 in the warmer months

I have a frame rail pump to pump the fuel to the bed tank

leave the return going to the stock tank it what I did and it never over filled

I have all piping to the bed tank , there is an overflow line for expansion that goes to the OEM tank and ofcourse the fill line from OEM to bedtank
