DPF delete and the check engine lights comes on

Sorry about this post but i am new. I found a 08 quad cab cummins sport package all loaded up with leather for $29,000. It has been a 1 owner truck and has 54,000 miles. The guy said he did a DPF delete on it, 5" turbo back exhuast and a smarty 210 HP. He said every couple of months the check engine light comes and it's no big deal he just clears it with the smarty. It sound's kind of fishy to me. I have read all the storys about the problems with the 6.7's. I just don't want to spend that kind of money on a truck that is going to always be broke. He also told me he's getting 17-19MPG around town with the 6 speed auto. I asked him if he did the EGR delete yet and he said no but he was thinking about it. Should i be scared of the 6.7? I really want a 5.9 but 2006's with that kind of mileage are still going really high!

I currently own a 07 NNBS Chevy Silverado extended cab 5.3 Z71 with 46,000 miles. I really don't do alot of pulling. Just minor stuff sometimes like quad, snow trailor's and tow dollys. I usually just throw my quad in the bed and the same with firewood and coal. I don't really need a Diesel i just want one to be a fun fast truck. What do you guys think i should just keep my gas instead of messing around with a Diesel?

I don't know. Do you mean like boost gauges? How often do they come out with new tunes for the smarty's? Should i be scared of a 6.7? I heard don't buy a 6.7 unless it's a 08 or newer.

when they are deleted they are good. plug your smarty in and read what version it says at the very right. that will tell if you need to update it.

I have emailed the guy back with some questions sense he's hard to get a hold of on the phone. But when i talked to him on the phone he said the smarty is a 210hp and he normally runs it on the 90hp setting because it gets the best fuel mileage. Will it smoke a little on the 90hp? Is the the 90 HP safe for the head gaskets and the turbo. I did some more reading on the forum and people said the smarty on the higher tune's like 150hp to 210hp build to much drive pressure and that's what makes your head gaskets go. They where talking about SW2 and SW9 what are them just the settings? I was reading somewhere that you can run up to 55PSI of boost with stock head studs. I was reading on a google search some about a CEL. What is that? Please correct me on any of this information i was mis lead on. I am just trying to do my homework before i drop 29 grand on this truck.

deleted 6.7s are fine
90 hp is fine (no head gasket issues (keep timing dialed down on the smarty)
90 hp is fine (no auto tranny issues if you keep the torque settings low)
it will smoke a little with the 90hp tune (how much depends on the adjustable settings REVO)

I found out the truck doesn't have gauges and that he did the DPF, 5", and smarty at around 25,000 miles. Has anyone had any problems with the 6.7's starting in cold wheather?

i have a 2008 3500 dually 6.7 with 46000 i bought it with 25000 but i got a 5 in turbo back single smoke stack, 2.5 level kit, authority all terrain tires dpf and egr delete, and a cold air and tuner coming soon but i have to plug mine in if it gets below 32 or it refuses to start i usually have about 12 hours to let it set before i cant start it though

wonder what is wrong. mine will start at zero without plugging it in with no problem.
