Excessive smoke

I installed a DPF-R delete kit on a 2010 RAM 2500. I did not do anything to the EGR. Do I need to disable the EGR since I am recirculating exhaust back into my air box?

It shouldn't smoke hardly at all. Like we talking rolling coal or like a tiny puff when you hog stomp it or at start up?

Smokes more than my 06 5.9 with 100hp added. Smokes when I ease in to accelerator really puffs when i get down on it. You can see a small amount of smoke just ideling thru the neighborhood. Acts like it is either getting to much fuel or not enough air. I don't know to much about the EGR on the 6.7. I thought this may could be the problem.

That is strange i have not heard of that. I guess you could try deleting the egr. But that boggles my mind it smokes so bad

who's kit did you use

Trying to do a regen cycle with no DPF might exhibit those symptoms. I'd expect to get the "see dealer" popup pretty soon. I think you need to do both deletes. Somebody who owns a 6.7 and has done the deletes properly should be able to provide more details/factual information.

I know that we have had issues with the dpf r kits. With the truck still trying to regen and stuff. It would be interesting to see if you knew someone with a mini maxx to try that. and take the dpf r off and plug the mini maxx in

From what I have read, you need to make sure you are doing the key cycle (10 or 15 seconds .. something like that) at least every couple hundred miles. I have also heard that the EGR valves can get stuck open and cause the truck to smoke really heavy. Doesn't seem likely on a 2010 truck but who knows. Another thing I read was that sometimes the black box that plugs into the OBD2 port can sometimes have problems and doesn't reset a regen counter and can cause the truck to go into regen ... might be that. Personally I would just give their tech department a call. I read some reviews on their site and they seem to be able to work out many of the problem people encounter.

What color is the smoke is it white or black? I had an egr go out on my 2007 6.7 and it smoked white and alot of smoke and idled kinda rough

From what I experienced on my 08 its the EGR. I did the delete w/Smarty and kept the EGR and it would roll random coal here and there on a small setting like SW3. I ditched the EGR and no more random coal. It would roll on the highway, no load 65mph on a 8 hr trip, just here and there all of suddon.

if you still have your egr cooler and egr valve on, even if you unplug the egr valve, the turbo still wastegates exhaust pressure through the egr, which with enough pressure your egr valve can be pushed open causing some smoking issues.
