Can you?

Can you put a 12 or 24 v head on the 6.7l block. I thought i seen it in a pullin truck put i'm unsure.

well, a 24v will fit a 12v, a cr 24v will fit a 24v, and cr 24v will work on the 6.7 ... so yes they should both work

brk126 02-21-2010 11:17 AM

yeah it will work...not sure why u would want to tho

We put the 12v head on 6.7's sometimes in a 3.0 pulling truck motor, you can put big valves in the 12v for increased flow, but i dont think it would be a benefit on a street truck.

yeah im with R&R on that one.....if ur building a high end puller maybe but not on a daily driver

Don't want to Hijack this thread here. But if you can go that way with the 12 Valve on the 6.7, Can you go the other way and put the Common Rail 4th gen Head on the 3rd gen 24 Valve to do a Common Rail Conversion? 94_12Valve, Have you seen it done? I had a friend who's VP44 went out and we were contemplating going common rail until one of my other friends said it was impossible because of higher pressures. (We listened to him and just replaced the Pump as he's a diesel Mechanic for Deere but sometimes I wonder if he's full of it and hates to see me pull off some of the crap I done.)

i have not seen a cp3 set up on a 2nd gen 24v. Not saying it cant be done but you would have to change many things lilke the ECM, injectors, pistons, injection pump, add a fuel rail, injector lines, and not to mention all the sencors you would have to add. I'm sure there is more than that but off the top of my head thats all I got.

It would be a lot of work, if you want to ditch the vp44 swap it to a ppump.

Ok, That was some of the stuff I was thinking, all the little things. I didn't realize the pistons had to change. We just did a new high flow Lifter Pump, FASS system, new VP44 and put the low pressure warning light/kit so it hopefully won't happen again. Simpler. and Cheaper from the sound of it. We though of doing the P7100 but we still would have had to replace the same things as just fixing the 44, plus add a head. He doesn't really rod his truck anyways, it's fairly stock. Possibly all stock minus those add ons:humm:. His is an 03 1 ton Dually with the 02 motor and body so he was kind of upset he missed the CR and the newer style by getting an early 03.:dang:

to do a ppump swap you can keep the 24v head.

As for the pistions I don't think you have to swap them, but the later cr's have a better bowl design
