What would you do?

Well, I have a 2008 6.7L dodge w/ a dpf delete, front and back bumpers etc.

Im looking into performance now. I have recently ordered an edge juice w/ attutide and I am looking into more performance. I know a fella that has 100hp injectors for my truck. but my clutch has been going bad with stock horsepower. What would you do? :bat:

coyropin 04-18-2009 03:20 AM

I did the same thing my clutch was not the best shape and i put turbo and injectors in mine for 800.00 couldnt pass it up. and it made it a week before it exploded into many many pieces so new clutch, is it worth it yeah, the look on them rice burners that think they can play and all they see and smell is what my truck does smoke

raptr85 04-18-2009 09:00 AM

drop you a new clutch in that baby, add your mods and you can outrun anything on the street if you want. be careful to research the clutches before you buy on though, make sure it will withstand the power transfer.

Hummin Cummins 04-18-2009 10:33 PM

Send back the Edge juice, and order a Smarty.
If you are ever considering entering a sled pull go with a DD clutch. My DD clutch has been to hell and back a few times already. I would never even consider anything else.

FarmDiesel 04-20-2009 02:51 AM

Whats a smarty? does it have in cab adjustments and is it cost effective?

Diesel Dawgs Performance 04-20-2009 04:53 AM

Once you get your clutch in look at a XRT or Smarty.

ETXBlueRam 04-20-2009 11:17 AM

Just my opinion, but if I were in your shoes, I would hold off on the injectors for now. My reasoning behind that, is if you are going to have to pay somebody else to do them, that money would be better spent putting it towards a clutch first. For tuning, either a Smarty or XRT stacked with an MP-8, in addition to a good free flowing intake will make plenty of power to keep you entertained. Experimenting with the best settings for your truck will also help you out mileage wise.
The XRT I'm told, will allow you to run an aftermarket turbo without code problems if you choose to go that route down the road. With what I've mentioned so far, you should have the capability to push the stock turbo to its limits airflow wise, at which point, I would look into inectors and a turbo swap as a package.
One other thing I suggest planning for is gauges. The post none of us wants to read is about you melting pistons. :U: Add an airdog to the list as well.

Here's a link for you to read about the Smarty.

double disk clutch

midnite><og 04-20-2009 08:05 PM

intake and exhaust!!!!

wildbill 04-20-2009 08:49 PM

With new injectors running at $1000 a piece for the 6.7, I'd leave it alone and stick a kevlar clutch in it.

FarmDiesel 04-21-2009 09:02 PM

Ive found some injectors that rate about 100hp for the price of $1500 and stock injectors

Diesel Dawgs Performance 04-21-2009 11:48 PM

We have Fireball Pro 80hp Injector Nozzles for $509 plus core and 120hp for $569 plus core.

Wow. I almost got ripped off? :argh:

FarmDiesel 04-30-2009 11:44 PM

Mods in the bag; 5"tb dpf delete, Edge Juice w/ Attitude. Mods that WILL be done. Valair DD clutch, S&B Air intake w/ prefilter..... Now what?? :playing:

ETXBlueRam 05-01-2009 12:35 AM

gauges to keep an eye on things, an Airdog, so you know your fuel delivery is up to the task, an mp-8 to stack for fuel pressure, and then hang on. lol Then say a prayer for your rear tires..:U:

FarmDiesel 05-01-2009 12:48 AM

Got the gauges, Via Attitude. Not completely sure on what the airdog is or costs. And have no idea what a mp-8 is. Come on. Im just a plowboy :rocking:

dodgeram082500 05-01-2009 04:01 AM

cbrahs can get you a quote on it but i think its in the area of 500-600 bucks but with all the mods your wanting your gunna need it

Get a Smarty instead of the EDGE. Or, I can sell you my old EDGE Juice cheap.

FarmDiesel 05-03-2009 03:29 PM

Im not too sure about the smarty, just seems like too much power coming ONLY from a chip. Seems like I would go and blow the truck up... And so far I love the edge, got all the gauges, in cab adjustable horsepower, code deletes and turbo timer. But ill read on the smarty to see whats so awesome about it other then dumping 170 horsepower straight on to your truck :rocking:

GUS 05-03-2009 04:05 PM

Smarty/Edge stack. The Edge for the 6.7 can do some cool things to eliminate some of the EPA BS, where as the Smarty will give you more timing and power. Bob Wagner at Mads Electronics, makers of Smarty is the guy to talk to. Intake and exhaust are obvious, but a Clutch is a must!!!! Go with a good brand like South Bend or Valair. Go ahead and get a streetable Dual Disc, possible kevlar. But unless your throwing driveability out the window, keep it somewhat modest. Injectors would be a fun mod, but make sure your getting plenty of air to keep those EGTs low. There is a guy over at the Cummins forum that put custom twins on his 6.7 and is making great numbers. Smarty is phenominal, but doesnt have safety features like the Edge...but edge doesnt make power like smarty does either. Smarty also has the P.O.D. upgrade where you CAN tune on the fly, but again...be smart, because the smarty for the 5.9 is capable of over 200hp alone. :c:

DslDeamon 05-03-2009 06:40 PM

i heard that smarty is having some problems on the 6.7 tho or have they fixed them now:w2:

The Smarty has 9 different tunes, so unless you just go overboard and run the hottest tune on an otherwise stock truck, you aren't going to blow anything up. That's the nice thing about so many options, is you can add more power as you add supporting mods to go with it. As long as you don't throw more at your truck than the rest of the drivetrain can handle, you shouldn't have any problems at all.

Alright! So far, DPF delete, S&B intake, Edge W/ Attitude, Valair DD clutch. What would you do from here? :tttt:
Looking into an EGR delete, anyone got info on the most complete way do kill it?

Valair1 06-04-2009 06:07 AM

injector's, turbo, and a AirDog, but it never seems to end, i just got my truck back together and now i'm getting ready to put a fully p/p head on.
you'll need more fuel, more air, more fuel, more air, and just keeps going LOL

FarmDiesel 07-05-2009 11:17 PM

Ok! Current mods, 600hp DD valair clutch, s&b intake, EGR delete, SMARTY! , 5" TBE, All gauges accounted for, except the rail pressure which im in the process of getting.
What would you do from here? :w2:

Diesel Dawgs Performance 07-06-2009 12:42 AM

Airdog 150

biged681985 07-06-2009 01:50 AM

x2 on the airdog. then i would get a bigger turbo and bigger injectors and put them in it.

6narowbuilt2tow 07-06-2009 11:58 AM

Next you will need EGT & Boost gauges and a smarty. Trust Me the Smarty is the only way to go.:U:

I have all of those already lol

FarmDiesel 07-12-2009 06:09 AM

Im thinking about meth injection, any thoughts?

Valair1 07-12-2009 06:24 AM

i dont know, it really didnt help my set up to much i spent 500 bucks and only picked up 8 hp, i was thinking WTF. but again that was on the walmart 50/50 blue windshield washer stuff. i'm gonna try real methanol 50/50 soon.:argh:

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

where is Karnes City i know i seen that somewhere, we got a lake house at richland chambers is it around there.

Diesel Dawgs Performance 07-12-2009 02:24 PM

I would do the Airdog and Injectors before the Meth.

I can already hit up to 1800 degrees... The airdog may be ok, but would I be ok with the injectors?

And how hard is the Airdog to install? So far I have done everything myself on my truck, there is really no diesel performance shops within 100+ miles.

Diesel Dawgs Performance 07-12-2009 04:41 PM

The Airdog isnt that bad of a job. Really the hardest part is dropping the tank. If your hitting 1800 it sounds like your in need of a upgraded turbo.

FarmDiesel 07-14-2009 03:37 AM

:argh: But that costs money...

ForcedInduction 06-21-2010 09:31 AM

Remove the EGR and intake throttle.
