Which DPF delete company?

I have a friend that recently purchased a 6.7 and is interested in a delete, I went with the BADP "Code free" dpf delete kit. Of course what I got out of that was 3 exhaust codes and occasional white smoke :asshat: What would be a better company to go with?

i have a H & S 5 inch turbo back and so far ive had no problems with it and with a programmer is pretty much code free you can give them a look see their web site is Rollin' Smoke Diesel - Diesel Perfomance Parts good luck :U:

H & S has a code free programmer out now, and the smarty is supposed to ship on the 15th I believe, it will be code free as well.

need help 6.7 04-08-2009 01:09 PM

Codes and a CEL are inevitable when doing deletes. The best bet right along when deleting the DPF is to go with the XRT or Smarty to be code and light free.

I would have to agree with James. XRT or Smarty. XRT with Sims and an Expandit 5" makes a nice combo.

From what I have seen, it depends on what you want. If your after a kit that don't modify the ECU and thus wont mess with your warranty "wont be a tune no extra power and what not" simply a dpf/egr removal and that is all you want the dpf-r made by gearboxz.

however if modifying the ECU and risking your warranty is not a issue and it probably isnt the H&S or smarty would probably work fine.

smarty , xrt and black max.:tu:

I have purchased a Smarty 67S with the delete software in it, ordered an H&S EGR and cooler delete, and bought a dpf delete pipe. Once this is all installed do you still have to change your oil every 5000 miles, or since all the smog crap is gone that makes your oil dirty can you go longer?
Thanks,
first time poster,
been reading on here for a while!:tu:

Flogster: what is the web link to "gearboxz"? I am only looking to have my 6.7 run code free, I am very happy with the power as it is, totaly stock. I am 65 yo and retired and just want to tow my travel trailer with out getting ck eng light or other codes.

puller451 02-16-2010 12:50 PM

No comment on the engine oil change interval? Huh?:humm:

BLACK RHINO 02-23-2010 09:06 PM

Seems to me that after you have removed the DPF you can extend the oil change interval if you wish. The problems are with clogging the DPF and thus giving you alot of back pressure. Causing A failure of whatever is weakest internally. Once it is gone then soot it up if ya like... Takes alot to choke A 4 or 5 inch pipe.:humm:

A lot of guys are still doing 5k oil changes with deletes. Some use synthetic and bumped it up to 7500 miles. Others use a by-pass kit and synthetic and go 10k plus......

puller451 02-25-2010 10:17 AM

A suppose the right way to find out is do an oil analysis after 5k.

I went with a flo-pro and a smarty from cobbs deisel performance right at 800 bucks. Hell of alot better than buying a 2000 dollar filter. :c:

BLACK RHINO 02-25-2010 08:40 PM

I wish it was that long.. I change mine every 5000KM. Which is every 3100 Miles. Up here my motor would be in pieces before I ever made 10KMiles. Save the poor thing and spend the 60 bucks to give it some help....:scare2: If we didn't have so many cold starts up here I am sure we could stretch it out.

I have been doing alot of looking around as well and I am in the same mind set as you. My dodge has plenty of power I just want to get rid of the darn gas guzzler under my truck. I don't want to modify the ECU in anyway and I want it to be as trouble free as possible. I was directed to gearboxz from another forum and from what Ive read their kit seems to be one of the few that does just a simple dpf delete. I'm thinking really serious about getting one. I found them at Gear Box Z.

I think you need to do alittle more research on what actually happens.

dpf delete

i have a 2008 dodge 6.7 quadcab short box 3500 6 speed manual. i want to delete the dpf and possibly the egr. can anyone tell me where to start? how much will it cost me? and will i get any check engine lights? im currently getting 17 to 18 mpg average and 20+ on the highway, will i see an increase in mpg? the truck has 52000 miles but is out of warranty due to age. not worried about warranty. i live in central ny, can do alot of work myself as far as bull work but not to keen on electronics. is there any shops in this area that can do it? thanks everyone
