DPF back exhaust..

I just purchased a 2008 2500 HD QC pickup.. love the truck, but it's too damn quiet. I've seen several setups available that are DPF back, I'm looking for one that would preferably delete the muffler all together. I figure the cat and DPF have got to be enough in the muffling department. Anyone have any specific system that they've been happy with?

Also, being where the muffler is, does anyone make, or has anyone made a setup that would just dump in front of the rear tire, and not even bother going all the way back? It would appear that there's enough room to just put a 90 degree bend 4 inch pipe on and dump out in front of the rear tire on the passenger's side. If the muffler is going away, there's no real reason to even go all the way back IMO. Not to mention that it could probably be made and with the clamp, and even a tip of some sort probably be about 100 bucks...

Such a setup exist, or is this gonna be a custom thing that I have to have someone make?

Be a wise idea to go past the rear pass tire. Otherwise once it goes into regen, the excess heat can cause a melt down.

Even if the pipe isn't near anything? I mean how hot is the pipe gonna get? I'm not looking to aim the exhaust at the tire or anything, just a simple 90 degree out the side.

Besides that it's less pipe to worry about rotting out from the CT salt, less heat near other components of the truck (spare tire, and whatnot)

It gets damned hot! I have a friend who did a muffler delete and gained nothing. The DPF is pretty much a big muffler.

I don't really expect to gain much, other then maybe a little better sound.

Fine, ti gets hot no big deal, I'd rather have the hot come out the side, then out next to the spare tire.

Maybe I'll just put a turndown off the end of the DPF and be done with it.

when i first got my truck i replaced the muffler witha piece of flex pipe and it made no differenceto the sound. my suggestion is to call h&s and order a dpf delete kit, unless your scared of losing your warranty. i honesly think it will pay for itself with the fuel milage gains. i gained about 6 mpg with the delete and xrt tuner, but your right foot determines what kind of milage you get also.

oh yeah it sounds like a deep throat version of a 5.9 common rail :U:

Losing the warrenty... isn't something I really want to do at this point. If this wasn't my first diesel and was comfortable working on it, it would be a differenct story. But I pop the hood on this thing and I have no clue LOL. Gas motor anything I can work on and fix, this thing.. I dunno where to start :argh:

i talked to my dealer about my dpf delete before i put it on and they told me that i wouldnt loose my warranty unless i did some MAGIOR mods to it like turbos injectors ect..but i dont know every dealer is different to:w2:

i asked my dealer as well and he politely told me if i put a delete kit on my truck, dont bother coming to him for any engine, computer, or powertrain warranty because they would all be void. however a dealer an hour away said he doesnt care what i do to the truck he gets paid to perform warranty work anyway so bring it on in. i think its funny how diverse the dealer services are in my area.

and jl you only live once so what the he** have fun:rocking:

Pewter transam is mine, the final run was the finals @ the last race of the season. Won the event.

If you ever watch Pinks Allout... you might remember the car from the englishtown event. I made it to the final 4 there.
