EGR Delete?
I am new to all this but what is the purpus of deleting the EGR?:argh:
|
Dude, you are beating a dead horse. There are hundreds of threads here with that exact topic. I don't mean to be rude, but seriously. Come one.
Now to answer your question. 1. Better fuel mileage 2. Longer engine life 3. Everything |
how do you like the stage II DPF, did It help MPG ? Do you Tow with your truck?
I have seen all the threads but none say what the EGR Delete does. Thanks again |
The 'claim' is that the EGR delete will improve your mileage, lower your intake temps, allow your engine to run cleaner (extending your oil changes) which in turn extends the longevity of your engine. You cannot do it unless you do a DPF delete as it is required to make your DPF function correctly.
I have not removed mine, but have experimented with unplugging it, and I dont see any major mileage gain. It does nothing for power... |
OK I unpluged the EGR but have not done the DPF delete? Hello is this going to do somthing wrong????
|
Yep....read my post above...:argh:
|
doing EGR and DPF alone gains NOTHING for power. will however keep things cleaner ie. oil, turob (wont have to take it into the dealer for cleanings), no REGEN ect... if you want gains, you must have some sort of tuning such as Edge with attitude or bullydog PMT ect...

I have seen all the threads but none say what the EGR Delete does. Thanks again Before the delete my exhaust brake was cutting in and out due to the carbon buildup from the DPF. After the delete I have not had a single problem with it. Before the delete the EB would shut off at about 1400 rpm, now it goes all the way down to idle. |
H&S
my H&S box being installed. Does the EGR disable function on this box do the same thing as physical removal?
|
buy a smarty buy 04.5-07 exhaust and egr & cooler delete and be done with it all i had edge and was far from impressed besides having gauges and change on the fly your not getting a full increase of all the affects by un plugging cause its still going to be slightly flowing and plugging your dpf sense its still in place just delete the poor truck:tu:
|
h&s unit
Does't the H&S unit have the same EGR system delete? as the smarty? everything I read said they were about the same. :c:
|
yes h&s does the same as smarty. both are good tuners. :tu:
|
love my h&s tuner and all the deletes ,well worth the money,:w2:

The EPA is about to grab us diesels by the balls in 2013 EVERYWHERE:scare2:. Just i was about to do my deletes next month I hear of this from a friend that owns an emissions shop:argh:. I'm trying to get a better understanding of the Tuner/DPF/EGR combo so correct me accordingly. Now, the tuner is a plug-n-play straight into your OBD II port, right? And that clears the codes that arise from DPF/ EGR deletes. Now, when they go to test a truck, they are going to have to unplug the tuner from the port and run the truck's computer. If the tuner is what clears those codes what stops the computer from throwing them again, or is there no way to pass? Will there be a certain amount of time the truck can run before the codes will throw? He told me that for each vehicle to pass theres conditions that must be met. He said you can usually meet 6 of the 8 conditions and the truck will pass. I didnt get major details but i know one of them is once you clear a code the truck has to be driven a certain amount of mileage (usually around 100 miles) Please add any comments/ experiences with this you have. I'm thinking that if I do these deletes now I'm going to regret it later with getting an emissions test in 2 years.

thy arent hard to do i just totaly returned mine to stock to get warantee work done took about 3 hours thats a 5" turbo back exhaust, full egr delete and afe intake system also took out my h&s mini max.
as to getting your truck to pass emissions you can install the H&s or smarty tune and then remove the tuner it totally reprograms the truck not to look for the egr or dpf so if you remove it there are no codes to clear and you shouldnt have any problems. but i dont know what they will be looking for when they are plugged in and doing the smog check but i bet as soon as they get that info out the tuner guys will get out a new update to beat it. |
Awesome. Just what I wanted to hear. Much thanks!:jump:

I Have a 2007.5 6.7l cummins with full dpf delete, running a h&s mini max, i deleted my egr the other other day but left the cooler on, i noticed today while driving when my turbo gets to spinning at about 1800+ rpm's i hear a odd sounding whistle coming from the engine bay, sounds like it's near the egr block off plate. Does anyone have a clue what it is, or how to fix this??
