New to the site and owner of 2008 6.7L Cummins. Would like to increase fuel mileage and would appreciate some suggestions regarding power chips, cold air intake, etc. without voiding my warranty.

WITHOUT voiding your warranty???? Keep it stock then...

There are lots of options, but the dealer and/or DC will be the ones to decide wether or not you keep any warranty. According to their 'official' rules...no mods.

I have modded mine extensively now, and the dealer has consented to all of them, but my dealer loves me :U:

My advice is talk to the dealer first, and see how tolerant they will be.

good luck!

First thing to try is simply unplugging your EGR. Very simple mod and it nets most of us at least a 3 mpg increase. I went from 13 mpg in town to 16-17mpg in town. Incredible for just unplugging a plug.....

Mind elaborating as to which plug? I'd be interested in trying it with mine. My in town mileage sucks too.

I know this will be a stupid question, but I have to ask it anyway. You and I have both deleted the DPF but can the EGR be unplugged with the stock exhaust system?

Thanks

Thanjs....I think I'll start with an AFE cold air intake and am considering increasing to 5" exhaust, keeping the DPF. Have been looking at the Edge attitude with juice. I am told that this one is easy on the warranty as it does not actually change the programming.

My biggest problem right now is keeping the %$&! "check engine light" out!

Longhorn 10-05-2008 09:55 PM

No problem there...the Juice/Attitude combo has a feature that will clear previous codes on start-up so your CEL will never again bother you. I ran mine for a while with the DPF on, and it is great up to level 3. Levels 4, 5 and 6 (hot) will cause it to regen almost non-stop which is a pain. If you keep the DPF you cant increase your exhaust size to 5" except for DPF-back, and there would be little if any gain.

AFE or S&B for the CAI should make you happy.

It sounds like I have already done anything you are planning so feel free to hit me up if you need any help or have any questions.
:U:

Yeah, you're right. Increasing the exhaust behind the DPF won't help much other than mayber a little better sound. The engine light started coming on for about half a day and then out. The last time it came on, I ran the truck by Autozone and had them plug in an analyzer. The code indicated "turbo boost pressure not detected". I figured I better let the dealer handle that one.

apparently it depends on what flash you currently have on your truck as to how well simply unplugging your egr will work. The newer flashes are allowing this to work better.
