Default 2K OIL CHANGE????

SO, I've had my truck for 8 months now and put about 10k miles on it with no problems. But the last two oil changes have me pulling my hair! The warning system has been going off at 2k miles intervals. I asked the dealer about this and they said it's pretty normal. Is this true? Does this have anything to do with the fact I haven't done the deletes yet? This is making me sick. Luckily, I have free oil changes for the first year but come next April, I'm gonna be hurting at 90 bucks a pop every 2k miles. Is there anything I can do about this?

WOW... I figured that much. Now I understand all the ruckus with the class action law suit stuff. Well, I think I just found my New Year's resolution Thanks!

Hmm. That's strange. My 2009 warning light for oil change goes well beyond even my own 3500mi. threshold. Manual says the warning is based on oil condition not miles driven.

A cheaper alternative is Walmart. They carry the Shell Advance synthetic oil and MOPAR oil filter for your truck. One 5 gal bucket w/ lid from Home Depot fits just barely under the oil pan and makes a great reusable receptacle. One hour later you have oil and filter changed. The bonus is you know it was done right. The manual explains how to reset oil light.
Cheers,
Ch

Well come April if I haven't already done the deletes, I'll be doing it myself and a hell of a lot better than they do I'm sure

3 Gallons of Rotella 15W-40 and 1 Mopar oil filter from WallyWorld is $54. It takes about 20 minutes to perform a complete oil and filter change.

Turn key to on (the detent before start), depress gas pedal twice, turn off ignition. That should reset oil change light.

At least it does on my trucks past and present. (09 Cummins, 05 Tahoe and 01 Expedition).

The perform service message is also mileage based, but you may need more than just an oil change depending on your total mileage (PVC valve change etc).

Cheers,
Ch
